Orange muffins Project

During this month I am working on a very exciting project for MBS. It consists on an animation of a simple 4 ingredients recipe that can be understood by anybody no matter the language they speak or the cooking skills they have.

To help myself to visualize this project I’ve answered some questions about it:

Identify what makes your project unique. My project is unique because it is a traditional Argentinean recipe that has been in my family for 4 generations since my great-grandmother invented it. Also this muffin’s recipe is extremely versatile and can be made with pretty much any fruit.

Does your project have a specific goal? What is it? My goal is to help people find out how easy and simple it is to make orange muffins with a 30 second motion graphic animation. There is no need to go to the supermarket and pay lots of money for some artificial plastic-look muffins. Is it easier and faster to bake them using my family’s recipe.

Does the project have a beginning and end date? What are they? The project is starting this week and finishing the 23rd of June.

Does your activity have a budget?

This animation has unlimited budget, which is a positive aspect although it has a very short and limited time to be finished.

Define the type of project management you will use for this project. Is the solution clear or unclear?

For this project the solution is very clear and understandable.

What software do you need for the project? Adobe illustrator, After Effects and Photoshop

What is the problem you’re trying to solve? Show people with different cooking skills who also speak different language how to bake muffins in 30 seconds without counting on the use of words.

Define the project goal. There are 3 distinctive goals is this project. Firstly, I want to teach the audience how to bake orange muffins. Secondly, I want everyone to realize how easy it is to bake. And last but not least, I want people to stop buying artificial premade cakes and muffins on supermarkets, I want people to understand how important and healthful it is to go back handmade recipes and activities like cooking.

List your main objective. The animation has to be 30 seconds long and should not count on words to communicate the message.

How are you going to solve the problem? With research and good quality, simple and clear flat design.

Evaluate each strategy.

My strategy is starting this project with a very detailed storyboard and explanation of the animation and then proceed to create it with collaboration of animation students and audio engineers.

Is the strategy feasible? Yes it is.

What are the risks of this strategy? Are they acceptable? An important risk is not being able to create an understandable story board as my drawing skills are not remarkable. Although I think they are acceptable and after a lot of work I will hopefully obtain the storyboard I imagine.

Which strategy best solves the problem statement?
